I love margaritas. They remind me of being on vacation on a beach somewhere so whenever it gets a little warm outside, I love to put on some fun music and drink one of these sitting in an outdoor patio on the downtown mall.
As a bartender, I also really love making them; they're 100% my favorite cocktail to make. I pride myself on how well I can make margaritas. I make them all the time at work for people and get so many compliments on how I make them.
Now, while I love a good regular lemon and lime margarita, I live for a good strawberry margarita. I make them all the time at home. Granted, at home, I typically cheat and use a mixer just because it's quicker, still taste good, and I don't always feel like going through the trouble of getting all of the fresh ingredients, but the sentiment still stands.
This past 4th of July, my husband and I went up to my Mom's house to celebrate my sister Kimberleagh's birthday because she was throwing her a surprise party with all of the family and a couple of friends. My Mom doesn't drink and doesn't really enjoy the fact that her kids drink, but this year, she allowed me, my older brother, and my cousins to bring alcohol to the house.
Obviously, I seized this as a moment to show off a bit and let my family have the chance to experience what I do professionally.
I chose to make margaritas because they're a super popular drink and pretty well liked even by people who aren't big drinkers. They're also really easy to make non-alcoholic which is kind of important in my family because my Mom, my younger brother, and my younger sisters all don't drink.
They were a hit, in case you were wondering.
This recipe is my go to margarita recipe for the summer because I love frozen drinks and adding strawberries to a very citrus heavy drink makes twice as refreshing as a regular margarita.
So if you're looking for a fun frozen drink for your next family/friend gathering, look no further! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
Strawberry Margaritas
Makes three to four margaritas
Ingredients
1 carton of strawberries (16oz carton)
6oz lime juice
6oz lemon juice
6oz simple syrup
6oz of tequila
3oz of triple sec
Ice
Put the strawberries and the simple syrup in the blender and puree until smooth. Then add in the lemon, lime juice, tequila, and triple sec and mix until all of it is blended together.
If you don't want a frozen marg, then shake and enjoy!
If you do want a frozen marg, start with one cup of ice and keep adding until you get the consistency you want.
Take a shot for the times my blender doesn't want to work and toast to good times sharing good drinks with family and friends.
Cheers,
Kristaleagh
